THE EDUCATION FUND

Zimbabwe Sports and Education Fund is an operational education fund that provides fiscal support to beneficiaries that covers costs associated with gaining an education in Zimbabwe. Generally, this includes:
  • school fees;
  • educational equipment (such as uniforms and stationary);
  • incidental costs (such as an excursion, medicines if an illness is preventing the child from attending school, and sanitary products for our girls); and,
  • a monthly donation of food stuffs to ensure they do not go to school starving (as unfortunately they often do).

The establishment of a ZimSEF-YASD library in Hatcliffe extension in 2012 further expands the comprehensive approach to education that ZimSEF is committed to.

The fund is structured to provide educational support to beneficiaries until the completion of secondary school A-levels (HSC equivalent). This quality marks ZimSEF as an organisation apart, as we are one of the very few education funds that extend beyond the completion of a primary education.

January 2012 saw the launch of the Fund with 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys ranging from 6 to 12 years old, commencing school at two local primary schools – Hatcliffe 1 and Hatcliffe 2.

Due to the success of our fundraising efforts, and the launch of the ZimSEF Sponsor Program, the Fund has been able to gradually expand and in 2017 we now have 17 beneficiaries - 11 girls and 6 boys aged between 6 and 16 - at 5 different primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe.

THE SPONSOR PROGRAM

Would you like to sponsor a ZimSEF child or young adult?

In January 2014 ZimSEF launched its ZimSEF Sponsorship Program. The Program has three levels of sponsorship: primary, basic secondary and comprehensive secondary.

Sponsorship is structured to provide educational support to beneficiaries until the completion of secondary school A-levels (HSC equivalent). Such a level of attainment presents an array of tertiary and vocational opportunities to young adult school leavers; opportunities that would not otherwise be available and are extremely valuable in “brain-drained” Zimbabwe. This quality marks ZimSEF as an organisation apart as we are one of the very few education funds that extend beyond the completion of a primary education.

Through our partnership with the Young Achievement Sports for Development (YASD) program, this education extends outside the classroom to include a strong focus on sport and a healthy lifestyle.

For as little as $1 a day you can sponsor a ZimSEF child.
